REASONABLE EXPECTATIONS

Eye Catching Title
The prospective patient's consultation with the surgeon is a vital part of any cosmetic surgical procedure. The doctor will want to establish whether there is a real need to correct a patient's appearance. The patient will want to establish a rapport with the doctor, to gain familiarity with and form an opinion of his or her work. A patient must also be made to understand the limitations of any procedure that he or she might undergo. Most importantly, the doctor and patient must discuss the patient's expectations. Cosmetic surgery is not the wave of a magic wand in the sense that it will turn a person's life around. Cosmetic surgery can correct a medical deformity, improve appearance, and bolster self-image. A consultation involves a discussion of the realities of surgery.
Editorial Content

Cosmetic surgery may not be magic, but those who have had reconstructive procedures often feel the results are magic. If you are wrestling with the question, "Should I or shouldn't I?" or if medical necessity makes it only a matter of when and where, please feel free to call us to arrange a consultation. We are the GIDEON CLINIC, conveniently located at 566 N. Cyber Street (822-9063). Appointments available Monday through Friday, 10-5.

P.S. Plastic surgery is not intended to change a personality, but to remove a stumbling block to self-confidence.
